Savings Pay For Software Implementation At Generator Service Company

The Challenge
Prior to engaging CFO Selections in early 2009, D Square Energy Systems had a labor-intensive, manual process for dispatching technicians and managing scheduled maintenance. After the work was finished, payment was delayed until invoices could be sent out. D Square wanted to implement a mobile-device based dispatch system which would allow their technicians to process work orders and receive payment in the field.

The Solution
D Square contacted CFO Selections, which introduced them to Intuit Field Service Management ES®, and said it could be implemented within a week -- and would tie seamlessly into their existing QuickBooks software. Based on the demonstration and the low up-front investment required, D Square purchased a subscription to the web-based software, along with mobile printers and mobile card-swipe devices for several of their technicians. By day three of the project, they could start loading the system with customer details. By day five, work orders were being dispatched to all their technicians directly on their mobile devices.

The technicians are now able to get all their work orders remotely, and only need to come in to the office to pick up their paychecks and restock their trucks. They are able to take credit card payments from customers at the time the work order is completed, and the record of payment goes directly into QuickBooks.

Because GPS is enabled on the mobile devices, the central office knows where the technicians are at all times. Technicians can change their status - working or traveling - and this information then feeds directly into QuickBooks and automates time reporting for payroll purposes.

The successful implementation of Intuit Field Service Management ES has allowed this CFO Selections client to gain the benefit of an enterprise level system at a fraction of the usual cost. Not only have their savings in fuel and labor dollars paid for the software implementation, but the additional capabilities they gained have also allowed them to obtain master dealership status with a major equipment vendor, greatly increasing their business. They have also been able to extend their operations into Oregon, due to the fact that the software is web-based and globally accessible.
