CFO Selections Places Director of Finance at The Wenatchee World

Bellevue, WA -- CFO Selections is pleased to announce that Janine Bakken is the new Director of Finance for The Wenatchee World (www.wenatcheeworld.com).  Ms. Bakken is a CPA who brings 18 years of public and private accounting experience to her position as the new financial leader for North Central Washington's leading daily newspaper.  Ms. Bakken has spent a majority of her career in positions of increasing responsibility at Washington Mutual.  The CFO Selections team is proud to have worked with the leaders of The Wenatchee World during these last few months and we thank everyone who provided us with assistance and leads on this search.  We wish Ms. Bakken great success in her new position.

The Wenatchee World newspaper was founded on July 3, 1905 and then sold two years later to Rufus Woods.  Woods gained national fame by leading a 23-year fight for the construction of Grand Coulee Dam and the Columbia Basin Project.  The leadership of this daily newspaper serving over 22,000 subscribers in North Central Washington was passed to third generation publisher Rufus G. Woods in 1997.  It remains one of the last family-owned information companies in the Pacific Northwest and is the dominant media source in its region.  For the six month period ending March 31, 2009, The Wenatchee World was the only newspaper in the state of Washington to not show a decline in circulation.  The Woods families view the Company as a public trust and are committed to the organization serving North Central Washington for generations to come.
