Nonprofit Case Studies
Case Study #1
The Client: A large, privately funded nonprofit who knew their CFO would be leaving soon
The Challenge: The financial situation at the nonprofit had been difficult for some time, leading several qualified candidates to decline the position.
The Solution: CFO Selections Consulting group assisted the organization by bringing in an interim CFO, who worked closely with the Executive Director and Board to keep on top of challenges and ensure continuity as the search for a new CFO continued. The CFOS Recruiting group was able to use their large database of contacts to reach out to a broad range of candidates, and the position was filled within three months by a candidate with extensive nonprofit experience.
Case Study #2
The Client: A small, privately funded nonprofit which had never had a CFO
The Challenge: The nonprofit had grown organically over several decades and was at the point where they needed to expand their reach into the community, but they did not have the financial expertise to build the capacity required to do so.
The Solution: CFO Selections provided the nonprofit with an interim CFO, who evaluated their situation and helped the Board create a list of requirements for a new, more broadly experienced finance person to lead their accounting team. The CFOS Recruiting team was able to find a person with the right technical skills, who was also a great cultural fit and was able to become a strategic partner with the Executive Director to move the expanded mission forward.
Case Study #3
The Client: A growing nonprofit with a mix of private and public funding
The Challenge: The organization had worked with a series of bookkeepers, but needed a higher level of financial expertise, which was not within their budget.
The Solution: A CFO Selections CFO began working with the staff and Board on an ongoing, part-time basis. The CFO was able to streamline accounting processes and implement a new accounting system which provided improved donor management, budgeting, and visibility of expenditures. The CFO worked with the Board to create a long term plan and determine what steps were needed to fund it. When the bookkeeper had to be out of the office for several weeks, CFO Selections' partner company Accounting Solutions Partners provided a bookkeeper who was able to fill in until the regular staff member returned.
