Adam Block
Adam began his finance career in Cambridge, MA, where he was a Senior Research Analyst for The Brattle Group, an economic consulting firm, specializing in energy markets. Following his stint at Brattle, Adam moved to Colorado to attend business school at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he received a full academic scholarship. While pursuing his MBA, Adam joined Simple Energy, a recent alum of the Techstars Accelerator, where he worked full-time as one of its earliest employees, while also attending business school full-time. Simple Energy was eventually acquired in a successful nine figure exit and is now Uplight, a Unicorn company headquartered in Boulder, CO.
From Simple Energy, Adam joined Shinesty, an eCommerce Apparel Company based in Boulder, CO, where he oversaw all finance, operations, and supply chain as EVP, Finance and Operations. His most recent six years of professional experience was at Vinyl Me, Please, an eCommerce Record Subscription business, where he helped grow revenue from $10 to $25 million and turn around the Company’s trajectory, improving EBITDA 200%.
Adam grew up in New York City and the surrounding suburbs. He attended Emory University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A in Economics, and for his senior honors thesis performed an empirical investigation into Steroid Use in Major League Baseball.
To have more flexibility to spend time with his wife Kristin and their new baby girl, Betty (their first child), Adam is now a contract CFO, where he collaborates with multiple clients on a fractional and project basis. In addition to spending time with his family, Adam is an avid skier, adult softball/baseball player, aspiring car collector, bulldog aficionado, and lover of the Colorado outdoors.
