michael-potterMichael is a strategic finance executive with over 25 years of experience providing leadership in diverse industries including software, technology, consumer products, energy, services, real estate, and manufacturing for startups as well as Fortune 500 companies. He possesses comprehensive hands-on experience building organizations from the ground up and is a collaborative problem solver.

His experience includes oversight of finance and accounting, information technology, risk management, human resources, and operations. He enjoys advising emerging growth organizations as a contributing member of the executive team to maximize return for shareholders and is skilled at building highly effective and efficient teams.

Prior to joining CFO Selections, Michael was Director Corporate Finance at Powin, where he created financial models and prepared due diligence supporting a successful $15M working capital facility. Michael led the implementation of Oracle Netsuite ERP system creating the foundation for international expansion, designed a pricing matrix model utilized by the commercial sales team driving over 400% revenue growth, and created a valuation model to support the acquisition of the company’s manufacturing plant in Yangzhou China. While CFO of Fortix, an IT managed services provider, he supported the acquisition of two technology companies which positioned the company for a successful merger with a larger regional player. As Corporate Controller at Supertracks, he built the accounting team and internal control process and supported a successful venture capital raise of $20M. As Accounting Manager at Columbia Sportswear, Michael was instrumental in the company’s successful IPO and developed the initial SEC financial reporting and accounting process.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin and is an active Certified Public Accountant in the State of Oregon. A Portland native since 1992, he resides in Dunthorpe with his wife, son, and daughter.  Michael volunteers in his community as Scoutmaster for his neighborhood scout troop and has served as a board member with non-profits Saturday Academy and Childpeace Montessori. Michael enjoys windsurfing in the Columbia Gorge, backpacking in the Cascades, downhill skiing on Mt Hood and exploring the Pacific Northwest with his family.
