Mike is a hands-on strategist in the world of accounting, finance and business management. In his more than 35 years of professional experience, he was worked in public accounting (as a controller, a VP of Finance and a CFO), aw well as being a successful entrepreneur, owning and managing a successful manufacturer of prefabricated, high-end greenhouse kits.
Mike began his career in public accounting, working for Deloitte & Touche as a Sr. accountant specializing in the healthcare industry. He transitioned to the corporate world by joining a multiple branched HVAC distributor as controller and later as CFO. Mike then moved to the electronics industry to a wholesale/retail distributor and played a key role in the acquisition of an electronics contract manufacturer to round out the company’s portfolio. This led him to the aerospace industry where he joined an avionics manufacturer as CFO and, later, as group CFO for the parent company. Exercising hbis entrepreneurial spirit, he then purchased a greenhouse manufacturer, providing him unique insights into the joys and challenges of business ownership. Although his largest distributor was Costco, he also shipped products to private customers across the US. Upon selling the company seven years later, he returned to the accounting and finance as a consultant, working as an interim controller for a medical supplies distributor, an aerospace manufacturer and a non-profit biomedical research organization. For the six years prior to joining CFO Selections, he worked as the VP of Finance at a distributor of beer and wine products and another distributor of food and consumables to restaurants across the Pacific Northwest.
Mike earned an Executive MBA (with honors) from the University of Washington Foster School of Business and a BA in Economics/Business from the University of California, Los Angeles. He has active CPA licenses in both Washington and California. Mike is an avid Mariners fan enjoys golf, and shares his life with his wife and a large, ornery housecat.
