ABOUT US

We work in numbers but we're in the business of people

Our Mission is People

Behind every financial report is a person making hard decisions. Behind every engagement is a human-to-human connection.

It’s the people behind the numbers — the ones asking smart questions, guiding tough conversations, and helping organizations move forward with clarity — who turn human capital into human potential. That’s why we approach everything we do with people at the center.

For our clients and referral partners, that means matching the right people to the right need, with the long-term health of the organization in mind. For our consultants, it means honoring the person behind the expertise by providing work that fits and the freedom to do it well. For our team, it means fostering a culture where people are supported and empowered. And in our broader community, it means giving back to create better futures for those who need it most.

Because when you start with people, their experience, their insight, their potential, what follows is better decisions, stronger partnerships, and lasting impact.

our values

We respect every individual and honor every relationship. We communicate with honesty and transparency, act with accountability, and make decisions that serve the best interests of our clients, consultants, and community. For us, integrity means doing the right thing, for the right reasons, at the right time, even when no one is watching.

We respect our consultants’ choices about how they work and live. We provide meaningful career alternatives that honor both professional excellence and personal well-being. By offering flexibility and autonomy, we create sustainable opportunities where consultants can do their best work while maintaining the balance that matters to them.

We create value by fostering an environment where diverse perspectives strengthen our work. We actively promote collaboration among individuals from different cultural, ethnic, and professional backgrounds, ensuring equitable access to opportunities and a genuine sense of belonging.

We believe giving back to our community is fundamental to who we are, not just something we do. Through corporate philanthropy and by supporting our consultants in their own charitable endeavors, we take ownership of our responsibility to create meaningful impact, contributing time, talent, and treasure to the communities we serve.

The History of CFO Selections

CFO Selections was founded in 2002 by Tom Varga, a finance executive who saw a gap in the market. Growing companies needed senior financial leadership, but many couldn’t justify or afford a full-time hire.

The fractional model was the answer. What started as a small practice in the Pacific Northwest has grown into a network of more than 300 seasoned financial consultants serving organizations across Washington, Oregon, Colorado, and Texas.

Over the years, CFO Selections expanded its offerings to include controller services, nonprofit financial leadership, and executive search, while staying true to the original mission: connecting the right people with the right organizations, in a way that serves everyone well.

Over the years, CFO Selections expanded beyond fractional CFO services to meet a broader range of client needs. ASP was created to provide fractional accounting and bookkeeping services, and Valtas Group was established to support nonprofit organizations through leadership transition. To bring these growing capabilities together under a shared identity, CFO Selections created Ensemble Partners — a family of brands united by a common mission and a shared belief that every organization deserves access to the right expertise at the right time.

THE RIGHT MATCH STARTS WITH THE RIGHT PROCESS

Finding the right match takes more than digging through a pile of resumes. It takes finance and accounting experts who know what the work actually requires – people who can read both sides of the equation and recognize fit when they see it. We vet slowly so we can move fast. By the time you reach out, the right people are already in the conversation.
