The CFO Selections Foundation invests in nonprofits that support youth and families in foster and kinship care across the communities CFO Selections serves.
Our grants are meant to meet real needs: helping children and families to find stability, support, and a stronger sense of belonging.The community-controlled advisory board for The CFO Selections Foundation has 11 members: nine community leaders and one CFO Selections representative. The board assesses grant applications and makes grant recommendations to The Seattle Foundation.
Candi Avery
Candi Avery, CPA, is an audit principal at Clark Nuber P.S., a Bellevue, Washington-based accounting firm. She has more than two decades of experience providing audit and consulting services to the nonprofit sector. She regularly speaks on complex accounting issues, policies and procedures, federal grant compliance, enterprise risk management, and board governance.
She is a popular instructor for Not-for-Profit Basics workshops and frequently presents at seminars for nonprofit professionals.
Candi is a member of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center planned giving advisory committee. She previously served as treasurer on the Washington chapter board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and currently serves on the planning committee for the AICPA National Governmental and Not-for-Profit Training Program Conference.
Candi earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Western Washington University. She lives in Maple Valley with her husband and two sons, who keep the family busy with baseball, boating, and trips to warm places.
Amy Wooden
Amy Wooden brings 35 years of experience across retail, SaaS, agriculture, nonprofits, and a range of other industries. Her background in administration, accounting, HR, and IT gives her a well-rounded perspective that she brings to her consulting practice, with a focus on small businesses and nonprofits. She excels at creative problem solving, accounting operations, internal controls, and building effective teams — with a consistent track record of leading organizations through growth and change.
Earlier in her career, Amy spent 13 years in administration and human resources at a national membership nonprofit in Washington, D.C., before transitioning into financial leadership in the retail sector. On returning to Oregon, she deepened her expertise across several industries before joining CFO Selections.
Amy earned a B.A. in English from the University of Oregon and master’s degrees in nonprofit management and business administration from the University of Maryland. She currently serves as Board Secretary for the Santiam Heritage Foundation and has served on numerous boards over the years. Outside of work, she enjoys helping others with tax preparation and tending her garden.
Sue Sander
Sue Sander is an Environmental Protection Specialist supporting Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reporting for airport expansion projects across the United States. She is also President of ATI, a renewable energy consulting company in the Northwest.
Previously, Sue served as president of Shapiro and Associates, Inc., where she led the management and direction of one of the Northwest’s largest environmental firms. She continues to provide expertise in business management, financial administration, human resources, marketing, and sustainability and climate change prevention.
Sue is honored to have been one of the initial CFOS board members, supporting the foundation’s commitment to strengthening nonprofit organizations serving children and families in foster care across the Pacific Northwest.
She previously served on the boards of the Seattle Aquarium and the Bellevue Art Museum. She currently serves on the Bellevue School District Ski School Program board, the Somerset Community Association board, and the Institute for Energy Resource Management (IERM), which supports renewable energy and resource management facility development in the U.S. and worldwide.
Sue earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Western Washington University and an MBA from the University of Puget Sound. She and her family have long called the Bellevue area home and enjoy life in the Pacific Northwest.
Cedric Davis
Cedric works as a trusted partner, helping philanthropists build relationships and connect their passions with critical community needs. From families to nonprofits to businesses, he supports a wide range of donors with a personal approach to community impact.
Personal philanthropic interests and passions include education, mentorship, and youth development; preventing gun violence; and foster care.
Cedric brings expertise in sales, marketing, and consulting. He previously managed national partnerships at Casey Family Programs, a foundation focused on improving child welfare.
An active community member, Cedric serves as an advisor with Mentoring Urban Students & Teens, a board director with Mothers for Justice United, and a trustee with Seattle Pacific University. He also works at The Seattle Foundation.
Cedric enjoys spending time with family, playing golf, and practicing capoeira.
Jerry Heemstra
Jerry Heemstra is an accounting and finance professional with more than 30 years of experience leading accounting teams and supporting mergers and acquisitions, budgeting and planning, board reporting, multi-company integration, financial reporting, forecasting, and debt compliance.
He also has experience with federal and multi-state tax issues, employee benefits, and complex projects, including software development and system conversions.
Jerry is a CGMA (Chartered Global Management Accountant). He earned an Executive MBA from the University of Iowa and a B.A. in Business and Economics from Northwestern College.
Outside of work, Jerry is involved in his church and enjoys backpacking, hiking in the Cascade and Olympic mountains, bicycling, and downhill skiing.
Todd Kimball
Todd Kimball is a senior accounting professional with more than 15 years of experience in the nonprofit and government sectors. He excels at solving complex nonprofit accounting challenges, creating process efficiencies, implementing internal controls, and providing the kind of technical expertise that helps organizations move forward with confidence. As a Partner with CFO Selections, Todd leads the nonprofit practice in Oregon and SW Washington.
Todd began his career as an auditor with the Oregon Audits Division and Moss Adams, then served as Assistant Controller at Mercy Corps. Since joining CFO Selections in 2014, he has worked with more than 20 nonprofits as a fractional CFO, taking on challenging accounting projects and conducting financial assessments.
Todd is a Certified Public Accountant in Oregon and a graduate of George Fox University with a B.A. in Accounting and Finance. When he’s not working, he enjoys traveling to faraway places, skiing on snow and water, and grilling in the backyard.
Robin Rothe
Robin Rothe’s career has been defined by a single through line: a commitment to vulnerable children. She earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees in special education from Bloomsburg University and Mansfield University in Pennsylvania, then spent eleven years teaching and working in administration in Pennsylvania and New Jersey public schools — including creating a summer program for young children with special needs. She also served as an adjunct instructor of special education at Centenary College.
The next chapter took Robin into the business world with two educational publishing companies, eventually bringing her to the Pacific Northwest. After retiring from publishing, she returned to graduate school at Seattle University for a second master’s degree, this time in nonprofit leadership. She held a management position with a private charitable foundation and became deeply involved with organizations serving vulnerable children. For nine years, she was a partner at Social Venture Partners and a member of Philanthropy Northwest.
With more than 20 years in the nonprofit sector, Robin currently serves on several nonprofit boards and is the Managing Trustee of a private charitable foundation. She has called the Pacific Northwest home for more than 28 years.
Susan Presti
Susan Presti spent 20 years as Community Relations Department Manager for Colorado Springs Utilities, overseeing community giving programs, employee volunteer initiatives, community education, and the corporate foundation that administered Project COPE — the utilities’ customer bill assistance program. Now retired, she brings that breadth of community investment experience to the Foundation board.
Before joining Colorado Springs Utilities, Susan spent seven years in the nonprofit sector as Senior Regional Director for the American Heart Association Pikes Peak Chapter and Director of Development for the Colorado Springs Symphony. Her first career was as an exploration geologist for a multinational energy company, conducting field research and managing mineral development projects throughout the Rocky Mountain region.
Susan currently chairs the City of Manitou Springs Historic Preservation Commission, serves on the Fostering Hope Foundation’s Business and Community Board, and is active on the Trails and Open Space Coalition’s membership committee. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Geology from Colorado College and an MBA from Colorado State University.
Riq Molina
Riq Molina is a commercial banking officer with more than two decades of experience providing financial solutions to for-profit and nonprofit organizations of all sizes. He specializes in relationship building, credit analysis, and risk management — and is as committed to building lasting client relationships as he is to driving results. His work is grounded in a genuine passion for helping clients navigate complex financial markets and achieve their goals.
Outside of work, Riq serves on the board of Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle High School, is a committee member for the Pike Place Market Foundation, and is a corporate member of Seattle University’s Family Business Exchange.
A Seattle native, Riq enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and walking through Pike Place Market with his kids — where he fondly remembers working at his grandfather’s stand.
Karen Mooney
Karen Mooney started her career as a CPA at a Big 8 public accounting firm before realizing that business, not auditing, was her true passion. She enrolled in night school, earned an MBA from Seattle University with an emphasis in Operations and Marketing, and spent the years that followed seeking out varied experiences and new challenges.
Karen worked at CFO Selections from 2011 to 2013, enjoying the variety of clients, industries, and engagements. In 2013, she stepped away to take an executive position at UP Global, an international nonprofit supporting entrepreneurs in more than 100 countries — where she spent an exciting, fast-paced few years working with a young, passionate international team and a high-profile board of directors. In 2016 she became CFO at C+C, a rapidly growing public relations agency focused on social good campaigns. As of 2023, she has returned to CFO Selections, bringing the full breadth of that experience back to client work.
Karen is rarely bored. Her interests include boating, sewing, reading, biking, theater, skiing, music, travel, and gardening.
Glory Visario
Glory Visario works with individuals and families to help them achieve their philanthropic goals — serving as a trusted partner who connects their interests and passions with meaningful community opportunities.
She brings more than ten years of nonprofit experience to the Foundation board. Most recently, she served as Relationship Development Officer at Treehouse, where she built relationships with individuals and community leaders in support of youth experiencing foster care. She previously held multiple development roles at NPH USA, supporting children and families in Latin America and the Caribbean. Glory earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington.
Outside of work, she loves spending time with family, volunteering, and baking.
