    POSITION SUMMARY

    The CFO provides leadership and management for all financial matters of Lutheran Community Services Northwest, directing all corporate finance, accounting, facilities management, space planning, and corporate insurance activities.

    • The position reports directly to the President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and directly assists the Executive Team (ET) Chief Operation Officer (COO), Chief Information & Strategy Officer (CSIO), and Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs, and the securing of new funding.
    • As a business partner to the Executive Team, assesses organizational performance against both the annual budget and the organization’s long-term strategy by developing tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information and making actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
    • Specific responsibilities include financial reporting, budget preparation, internal controls, financial audits, investing, banking, contract negotiations, business planning, and financial forecasting, as well as ensuring that employees have adequate workspace and facilities and that the corporate insurance policies adequately protect the company from unreasonable risk.
    • Manage a team of managers and line staff located in multiple locations throughout the greater Pacific Northwest.  
    • Serve as primary management interface dealing with financial matters for the Board of Directors and the Board’s Finance Committee.
    • Responsible for accounting systems improvement initiatives. Specifically, implementing and/or maintaining enterprise-class accounting systems that allow leadership transparent insight into relevant budget and financial data as appropriate.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting. MBA and/or CPA (active or inactive) are highly desired.
    • Commitment to LCSNW’s mission of partnering with individuals, families, and communities for health, justice, and hope.
    • Experience in a mid-management or senior management position in an entity with at least 500 employees who work in multiple locations.
    • Experience and knowledge of complex nonprofit accounting issues, including the compliance and reporting needs of federal, state, and local governments and private grantors. Experience can be either as a nonprofit Board member or as an employee.
    • Experience as a member of a management team.
    • Experience working in healthcare revenue management, especially Medicaid reimbursement.
    • Experience in real estate development and property management, with exposure to affordable housing preferred.
      • Direct experience working with Boards of Directors and Board Committees.
    • Experience with voluntary/non-profit organizations (either as an employee or as a Board member, or as a key volunteer).
      • Knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, gender).
    • Strong financial planning and analysis skills.
