Todd Abel
Todd is an accomplished financial executive with more than three decades of experience guiding finance and accounting organizations within both public and privately held manufacturing and industrial companies. Known for combining rigorous attention to detail with strategic insight, he brings the ability to operate hands‑on while shaping long‑term financial direction. His expertise includes finance transformation, operational finance, forecasting, reporting, mergers and acquisitions, systems implementation, and talent development.
Todd began his career with seven foundational years in Big 4 public accounting at KPMG. Prior to joining CFO Selections, he held several senior leadership positions, including VP Finance and Accounting for ESCO Corporation in Portland, where he oversaw technical accounting, commercial and operational finance, and financial planning and analysis for operations in 23 countries across six continents. Earlier, as VP Finance and Controller for The Greenbrier Companies, he served on the original leadership team of a newly formed division, guiding its expansion from $50 million to more than $650 million over thirteen years. During this period, he led multiple M&A transactions, established shared‑services functions, implemented ERP systems to support scale, and developed go‑to‑market financial strategies that improved customer alignment and strengthened financial performance.
Todd holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Portland State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from the University of Oregon. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys windsurfing, wing foiling, cycling, and both Nordic and Alpine skiing.
