Brad Short
Brad is a seasoned financial partner with over 45 years of experience across the diverse industries of nonprofit, manufacturing, broadcasting and oil and gas. He has managed accounting and finance for organizations with revenues ranging from $10M to $140M. Brad has worked with start-up entities, companies experiencing rapid growth, and organizations challenged by industry-wide contraction.
Brad’s responsibilities have included financial reporting, operations analysis, budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, cash management, risk management, facilities management, and financing. He collaborates seamlessly with senior management, staff, boards, and committees.
Brad’s career started in the oil and gas industry. He then helped start up Denver’s Fox affiliate, KDVR Television, as Controller. Brad joined Optima Batteries as Controller, after it was spun off from Gates Rubber Company. Optima rapidly outgrew its original production facility, requiring the design and construction of a new manufacturing plant. Brad transitioned to the Arabian Horse Association, a 501(c)(5) nonprofit, as Senior Director of Finance & Administration. Over the course of Brad’s 15 years at Arabian, the organization’s financial condition improved dramatically, providing it with the reserves to address future funding challenges.
Brad has an MBA in Finance and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Denver in Colorado. He also completed the Executive Development Program at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. Brad enjoys hiking, biking, and skiing when he gets a break from managing the family ranch.
